With that said, a cut-off point has to be reached _somewhere_. Suppose MS (MandrakeSoft <G>) waited for KDE3 gold? Let's set aside for a moment the very real possibility that a non-backwards-compatible full-point-upgrade is going to have some showstoppers out of the gate. Let's just look at *EVERY* KDE app having to be ported to qt3 and bugtested. How long would that take? "Buy a CD in the spring"?!? Which spring, 2003? Then, Samba 3.x is right around the corner. So is Mozilla 1.0. So is GNOME 2.0. So is OpenOffice 6.0. If Mandrake continually waited until the next major release of $FOO, then they'd never have releases. -- Brad Felmey
