But to me things generally seemed to go well. I was impressed at the very quick response time and with the generally helpful attitude found here on the Cooker e-mail list. I would agree with the comment that it would be good to get at least an automated response to our bug reports and problems from the Mandrake team. In this way we know we have been herd even if what we had to say is then being summarily ignored. Hey there must be priorities and everyone knows that deep down. We cold also be told that this has already been addressed or that more information is needed.
There is one thing that I would like most to to see added. This is a sort of daily or at least weekly progress report. The old Cooker newsletter reborn I guess. This letter would give those of us participating as guinea pigs, ah beta testers, some understanding of our role and perhaps even some focus so that we could be even more helpful with certain key issues. And if for some reason a particular problem is being ignored for the moment due to Mandrake priorities we could be notified and we would not then keep banging our heads against the proverbial wall by reporting the same bug over and over again. For me at least, this sort of news would be very helpful. It would let me know what bugs have already been found and fixed, it would tell me how the things I am doing fall with in the scheme of things. It would provide me with a place to catch up when I join the effort midstream or when I have been out of touch for several days. In my opinion, it would make the overall effort much more organized. We, all of us, would feel more like a team if we were thus informed.
