Olivier, You're missing the point. If we do that then people will
expect us to always provide updates to contrib. If a volunteer
contributor doesn't feel like updating a package that leaves it to
vdanen to do. vdanen has to do updates for main for the following
platforms:
7.2/x86, SNF, 8.0/x86, 8.1/x86, 8.2/x86, 9.0/x86, 8.0/ppc, 8.2/ppc,
8.1/ia64

What you're asking for is impossible. He works his ass off just to get
the above platforms done. To double the amount of possible packages he
would have to worry about just isn't feasable. Now if everyone here
wants to pitch in and come up with some cash so vdanen can get someone
to help him do security updates on a full time basis, then things might
be different. But I really don't see that happening.
Yes, please! Get another few hundred Club subscribers and maybe we can do something... =)

Further updates already takes up 5.3G on the mirrors. Adding updates
would only increase the size of that even greator. Making it too big is
very likely to cause mirrors to stop carrying it. And then you could
run into problems even getting updates for main.
I didn't even think of this, and yes, this is a very real issue. Thanks for pointing that out, Ben. Didn't even cross my mind.
