If you're following all bugs you'd just subscribe to the bugs list. If you're only following a few here and there it'd be better... less noise to filter through. So yeah you'd have to spend some time adding yourself to those bugs but the time not spent deleting stuff you didn't care about would make up for it. As far as the headers, they are set to when you reply to a bug it goes to the bug.
