Maybe you didn't notice, but I uploaded yesterday samba3 for ppc !
I agree porting is not only for fun, and you can't do all for fun, but give a place to poeple who seriously want to help you if you can't doing more. Contrib is unsupported - Some poeple who have the good hardware can do this, think contrib is often a good place for testing apps too (apache2, samba3 actually). Why not contributors start to rebuild stuff for x86-64, and switch to offical ports later ? Contributors a not here only to report bugs, Somes really want to help ! I you talk about place on mirror, removing sparc (someone use/follow it ?), cookfire (obsolete ?) will give about 5 GB ! -- Linux pour Mac !?
