Does gurpmi immediately install a package though?
That may very well not be the desired action. Most
file icons, you click the file and it opens it in a
program. Kpackage is one such program, it lets you
view information about the package, which may very
well be what you want. It would probably surprise
some people to have it immediatly start installing.

Also, users can't install packages, so this could only
arguably be appropriate for root, certainly not for
regular users.

This is not really a bug, more a usability tweak.

In KDE the default action when clicking on an RPM file is to launch kpackage.
While kpackage is a fine application wouldn't gurpmi be a more suitable default
application to install RPMs with? It is smaller, faster, and will resolve
dependencies.

In my experience newbies are always pleased to discover gurpmi.

(Or would the thought police attack Mandrake for daring to touch KDE :)
