I still think gurpmi should be the default action for rpms because

1) it's mandrakes default app for installing rpm's
2) "It is smaller, faster, and will resolve 
dependencies." as stated above
3) kpackage would still be available in the "Open With" context for users to
simply see the files if wanted

you have to remember...you are thinking too much as a sys admin.  there are LOTS
of users out there who just use mandrake as a single desktop.

This is not really a bug, more a usability tweak.

In KDE the default action when clicking on an RPM file is to launch kpackage.
While kpackage is a fine application wouldn't gurpmi be a more suitable default 
application to install RPMs with? It is smaller, faster, and will resolve 
dependencies.

In my experience newbies are always pleased to discover gurpmi.

(Or would the thought police attack Mandrake for daring to touch KDE :)
