Simply having it as as way to choose from among installed clients would be more than enough. There's already info in the RPMs that set up menu items; I'd assume that using this would provide enough info to create a "default apps" function. The thing is, this is already done in Gnome with a preference panel (is it in KDE? I more frequently use Gnome for my client). I don't know that duplicating this in Mandrake would be the best solution.
