I think my issue 2048 is related to this, since I have 1024M of RAM on my
system. I seem to remember getting the kernel panic on earlier versions of
9.0/9.1/cooker as well. I resorted to using a Gforce 2 card to do the install
at that time, which worked with no problems. I have to start my system with
normal for the video setting, because none of the framebuffer modes work with
the Gforce 4 Ti 4200 and 1024M of RAM. Possibly the same high memory conflict
you are thinking of? I think my bios is set to NOT have the upper memory window
enabled for the video. I wonder if this might be the issue? How was your bios set?

Hi,

When installing Mandrake 9.1 RC1 on a computer with 1024MB (1 gig) of memory
after the initial "install screen" the computer just dies and the caps lock and
scroll lock start blinking. This is a showstopper for the installation!

Tried on 2 setups: P4 2.5 with ati 9700 Asus p4pe and AMD 2000+ with nvidia
ti4600 Asus a7v8x. Both motherboards (after previous failure) flashed with the
newest (beta) Bios -> Same problem.
Same setup with 512 MB works just fine.
