Ok, it appears the theme stuff is broken if you don't have a chrome directory in
~/mozilla/*/*/ :((
Since I had this directory on my test system, everything was working fine :(

Two themes are listed modern and classic, however although the modern one can be
selected it does not work, even after restarting Mozilla. It returns to the
classic one, although it is listed as modern under preferences.
