The thermometer at Blind Mice Mart, although wonderful and
affordable, is not a candy thermometer; it will not measure at
temperatures high enough. The thermometer that Dale sells at Blind
Mice Mart is for meat and liquids which do not get as hot as the
temperatures needed to melt sugar and make candy.
I wish someone would manufacture, and then market, an accessible
candy thermometer. Candy is among the few things I never try to make
because I have never found an accurate way to measure temperatures that hot.
