Hi again, I forgot to help you with your other part of your question, that was the golden brown part. I guess unless you have a bit of residual vision, you won't so I used the texture of the cookies when they came out of the oven. For me, 11 minutes in the oven didn't make them hot enough for me not to touch so when they came out, I just stuck my finger in the middle of one and checked it out. The Chocolate chip cookies were firm around the edges but a little soft in the middle until they cooled and stiffened up. Compared to my sample batch that I did at the 9 minute mark, the perfect ones were more firm. Now that I know how long the recipe I made took, I will record that for next time and won't have to do a sample batch. Remember to let cool though before handling or they will just fall apart like some of mine did. I tried to slide them off the cookie sheet before they were cool. I guess it is all in the learning curve of a rookie cook!

Here's what I did. I just did a sample bath starting my time at the lowest according to the cooking instructions. The cookies that I made had a time of 9 to 14 minutes or golden brown so I put a couple of uncooked dough drops on the cookie sheet and started at the 9 minutes. When I took them out, they weren't quite done so I did the rest of them at 11 minutes, going up by 2 minutes and they turned out perfect. Remember to preheat your oven well or this won't work. Hope this helps a bit. Others may have a better method but, this worked for me. I understand the reason for the variance because not all ovens bake the same way but again how do I tell as a blind person when a cookie is done?Jean -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Shannon Wells Sent: Monday, October 03, 2011 11:52 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [CnD] easy sugar cookies Sugar Cookies 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour 1 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 teaspoon baking powder 1 cup butter, softened 1 1/2 cups white sugar 1 egg 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1.
