What makes the deer taste better if it wasn't running when shot? Just
curious. I mean poor little deer, I sure hope I would be running as fast
as me legs could run, if I was the target for someone. LOL
My dear Charles, has been given a deer and all I can say is, OH! DEAR!!!!
Should have lots of meat for the winter!! I will probably be the one
cooking him some of that deer meat, and, I have heard you can cook it up
just like beef mostly. He loves deer chili too. Question? How do you get
the wild taste out of meat like that? Katie

OK here are some tips. I have shot dressed cut up and eaten 4 deer that
I hunted. Mind you I had help, but I did legally get a hunters safety
card, and I have a rifle with an off set scope so that some one can stand
sit or Neil behind me and say up, down, left, and right. It takes a lot
of practice to get accurate and I practiced for a year before trying.
Anyway Deer is a very lean meat. It cooks fast and dry. So marinate
when you can, and remember there is very little fat, so you may have to
use Butter or Oil. Also the Deer will taste better if it wasn't running
when shot.

I rejoined this list yesterday. I have acquired a deer, processed into
burger, sausage, steaks, and roasts, all separated, vacuum sealed, frozen
and labeled. I've got about 90 pounds of venison in my freezer. So,
with that in mind, I'm now asking for tips on grilling, barbecuing, and
smoking venison. Firsthand experience in the form of tips and recipes
from a blind person's perspective are preferred. Recipes and tips copied
from browsing the Internet are least preferred, as more help can be
gotten directly from blind people who have had the necessary experience.
Thanks.
