You can buy a cracker that is normally served with oyster stew. It's a cross between a Ritz and a club cracker in taste. they are round and we call them oyster crackers. They are good with any seafood dip or chowder or stew.

Crab has a distinctive flavor. To me, I'd rather use a neutral flavor of
cracker or pita bread. If you use pita, you can cut little pockets to hold
the saucy crab balls or shrimp.

I use the canned tiny shrimp, drained, and add a dash of Worcestershire
sauce. Otherwise, it's pretty much the same. I don't even use a recipe any
more, I just throw it together.

Jean, are you saying you make a shrimp ball? Is it the same or similar
recipe?

Triscuits are the kind I use when I make this with shrimp - nothing else
works as well for me.

Merry Christmas to all and a Blessed New Year.

All,

I'm planning on taking this as my appetizer for the family Christmas
dinner. They like crab and I uh, don't. <grin> What kind of crackers
would go with this recipe?

Crab Ball Recipe

Ingredients

list of 5 items

1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened

1 (8 ounce) container sour cream

2 cups minced crabmeat

1 tablespoon garlic salt, or to taste

1 (12 ounce) bottle cocktail sauce

Directions

list of 1 items

1. In a medium bowl, mix together the cream cheese, sour cream,
crabmeat,

and garlic salt. Form into a ball, and place on a serving plate. Cover
the surface

as well as you can with cocktail sauce. Refrigerate for at least 30
minutes before serving.
