If you're having hypertension issues increase your consumption of high cacao content chocolate. Go as high as you can stand, as high content chocolate can be a bit bitter, but it's a Vaso-depressor and will help the blood pressure. The key is to use it instead of sweet chocolates because then you're not getting the bad effects of sugar. You can use this in cooking and baking as well, but it will possibly affect taste a slight bit. If you have one near you, Aldi stores have a nice variety of imported chocolate and you might find what you need there. Chocolate is not candy, though it can be an ingredient in candy.
