School Cafeteria Macaroni and Cheese
8 ounce, 2 cups elbow macaroni
1/4 cup, or one half stick butter or margarine
2-1/4 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1 cup milk
1 teaspoon salt
Seasoned breadcrumbs or crumbled potato chips
Cook the macaroni for about 5-8 minutes in boiling, salted water, drain.
Add 2 cups of cheddar cheese, salt and butter and the milk.
Mix well and transfer to a 2 quart greased casserole and bake at 350 degrees
F. for about 30 minutes.
Then sprinkle with the remaining cheese and chips or breadcrumbs and broil a
few minutes until topping is golden brown.
