Tere e 8 TBSP of butter in a stick. Half of that is 4 TBSP. (1/4 cup), half of that is 2 TBSP, and half of that is 1. You can usually guestimate, using this information, and come up with an amount that's close to what's called for in the recipe. One third of a cup is 5-1/2 TBSP., which is about 2./3 of a stick.
