I always use 1 cup brown rice to 2 and a half cups water or other liquid. I
alctually use the rice cooker. I fill to only 1 cup or 2 cup and then put
water to the next line up. So for 1 cup of brown rice, I fill water to the 2
cup mark istead of the way you do it for white rice. Remember, it will take
a little loner to cook. Don't forget to spray or grease your pan liberally.

1 c of brown rice, rinsed under cold water for half a minute
12 cups of boiling water, salted to fit your taste.
When the water is at a full boil, add the rice, stir once and cook for 30
minutes uncovered.
Drain rice in strainer.  For about 10 second and place back in pan.  Cover
with a tight lid, leaving pan off heat and let it sit for 10 minutes. Fluff
with fork and serve.
