Cocos,

I have recently accepted responsibility for doing listserv admin stuff
for an activist group I'm part of, and found myself saying:

"Online communities have been through these questions time and time
again, first with dial-up bulletin boards, then with usenet, then email,
now with blog comments, and the answer is always the same: a strong will
to impersonally banish perpetrators of personal abuse is the difference
that makes a difference."

Well, that's how it seems to me, but I reckon folks here might have some
other views. Thougts?
