I don't know why this message occurs. I think it's harmless other than to tell 
you that your GUI will be (somewhat)
ugly.

This is more problematic, sadly. I seem to have not worked around the clipper 
configuration issue where it chooses to
link against system libraries rather than it's own. So install libfftw2 (the 
dev version, I suppose) on your OS.
