It's still alive and well in 4.11_branch. Please feel free to send
patches if you've got 'em ready: `git push origin
HEAD:refs/for/4.11_branch`

The reason it was removed from master had to do with some
architectural changes that were impossible to reconcile with FSP 1.0.
