I think there is also great value in working together. One gets a code review for free. Which is, IMHO, one third of the development costs. I can't say what was going wrong with Picasso. I turned my back on it after the very first commit scared me away, so I really missed the last half year. Maybe the grief came because complaints were ignored? maybe not?
