Ed, My coupe has an Alon type panel...I think home made....I would like --plan to remove it, because it obstructs forward vision. I like flying from the right seat better because the panel does not obstruct forward vision... Maybe the original Alon type does not rise so high as mine ???
Of Course, if you want / need all those instruments, then the panel makes a nice addition.. For me, I would rather have the original. So, Now, I plan to remove the upper part of the panel, and retain the lower 4 inch section that has all the switches, etc, and hopefully mount the old type on top of that sub-panel. The result is a top of the panel about 1 inch higher than original; but I think will not obstruct forward vision.
