Both mags do have impulse couplings. The coupling that you have in
question has become unwound or the spring is broke. The Eiseman overhaul
manual lists a special tool to rewind the spring. It can be done without
the
tool ( can be difficult).
As far as timing goes you should set the of the mags after you
turn
the prop through and the mags snap throught the impulse and then reverse
the prop rotation to time the mags with a light to get them in sync.
I recently went through a lot of problems with the Eiseman Mags
and
elected to upgrade to the Slicks. Anyone that is considering the change
should make sure that they have the have the Continental gears on the
their
old mags. The old gears have to be used on the new mags. I understand that
there are some non Continental gears on some engines that will not work on
the new mags. Cost of the two gears is more than upgrading to the new
Slicks. I was fortunate to have the right gears for my C75 engine.
