here is one way which we found the oil leaks on a Luscombe with a
cont.C-85
First we cleaned the entire engine and dried it with compressed air then
we took baby-power and put it in a sprayer attached to the
air-compressor and put a very light coating all over the engine (make
sure you cover the mags carb and carb air intake ) you just want the
power on the engine block like I said a very small amount (lite dusting
) go fly the plane about 1/2 hour come back remove the cowling and look
for the wet spots these will lead you to the leaks (note that most small
continental engines do seep oil ) but seepage is just a wet spot not a
driping leak Hope this helps
