The test is to lift up on the wing tip, by the nav light.  You're looking for
a few things; looseness in the wing attachment bolts, wrinkling of the skin,
and noises in the wing tip bow.  Most 'Coupe pilots I've talked to can detect
a slight groan when they lift their wings and aren't concerned about this
(usually a dry joint in the main gear).  You want to pay attention to
excessive play in the attachment bolts evidenced by squeeking and sloppiness
in wing movement up and down.  Wrinkling of the skin might indicate a problem
with the wing tip section as would noise from this area.  Service Memorandum
No.58 and 58A talk about the wing outer panel and looseness of the wing tip
splice rivets.  This splice joint is 36 inches in from the wing tip.  If the
rivets are loose, movement can be felt when the tip is rocked up and down and
a grating noise.  Looking into your inspection holes while someone rocks the
wing will allow you to observe the wing tip splice joint to see if the rivets
are loose.  The SB's tell you how to repair if the rivets are loose.
