This sounds like the wingtip splice joint. The rivet heads shear off
from wear/vibration, and the wingtip bow then gives way. I had this
happen to me (while the airplane was parked, thank heavens), and the
right wingtip bow moved inward at its trailing edge, jamming against the
right aileron. The noise the loose joint makes when you move the
wingtip up and down during preflight, mimicks a dry joint in the landing
gear.

As John says: check it out!
