Will, I think that one crashed and burned. A few years back.
As
I recall the fellow did the airshow circuit. When out to turn up for the
coming season. When he didn't return they went looking. Found him rolled
up
in a ball and burned out.
The other tail dragger is an Alon. Sorry, I can't find where
the picture was posted anymore. Anyone know?

I talked to someone this weekend about this subject and he actually saw
one. It seems there was one in Louisiana that had been converted to a
tailwheel and from what I understand it actually worked pretty well. I
would think it would have to be registered in the experimental category.
I
still have to wonder about the effectiveness of the rudders. I just don't
see where enough airflow could be generated to allow it to land safely in
a
crosswind.

That is not a good idea. The only way I know of this having been done
was one which had a tail off an old round-tail Cessna grafted onto it.
I believe it was an airshow plane which was very experimental. This was
just a few years back. The whole thing was so idiotic that I almost
think I dreamed reading about reading that article but I didn't. You
would not have proper handling with the Ercoupe twin tail. I have rudder
pedals in mine and the rudders are nowhere near as effective as you
would probably want. Glen Ward
