My '58 Forney has a quadrant-style trim control located just to the right
of the throttle. It works poorly, mainly due to the resistance within the
cable itself. I replaced the stainless wire and lubed the entire cable,
and it's still quite "sticky". The problem seems to come from aft of the
cable coupler at the tail where it has to make a severe "S" turn to
connect to the trim tab. I'd say 70% of the resistance comes from this
"S" turn. At the next annual, I plan to replace that portion of the
cable....that is if the trim handle doesn't break first from all the
tugging.

Has anyone had success at achieving smooth quadrant-style trim operation?

For Trim I have a lever control on pilots side panel. Its kind of hard to
set
the trim for level flight when at cruise speed, on the ground the lever
moves
much easier. I have noticed on cadets they have there trim between the
seats
mounted on the floor with a twist type control, has anyone ever converted

over to this type of trim, or does anyone know of any other type of Trim
other than the lever on the side panel.??? Thanks Ron
