My 1960 Forney F1 originally had the quadrant control and I had no end of trouble because of all the complex linkages behind the panel. I finally pulled the panel to do a rebuild and replaced both the trim system and the throttle control. I now have convention controls for power and mixture (vernier) and have the conventional trim control on the pilots side. The conversion is easy and removes some of the mechanical linkages. The new trim is easy to use, stays where its set, and allows me to make smaller adjustments than the old panel trim control.
