John, does your Ercoupe have the modified breather tube that routes the tube up and into the airflow as it first leaves the engine. This mod is suppose to cool the oil vapors and re-condenses it back into liquid oil, which with the uphill angle causes less consumption.
As for the mod suggested, I do not recall seeing that as an approved mod, and I personally would not be cutting holes in the firewall or running any engine exhaust tube through the passenger compartment.
