Thanks for the reference. I probably ought to go look in the POH or flight manual before I think much more about it. There very well could be something in there. >I don't think having excess fuel in your airplane is proper. ---that fuel >gushes out if I remove a wing tank cap- I would review the plumbiong.. >Sounds like you are pumping from one tazanke to the other swomehow -- or >completely draining the header.... Only way I could visualize this is by >filling the header when refeuling -- DON'T. I sometimes fill the header up about half full before a flight, if it's drained down. As far as the plumbing goes, the diagram shows a fuel line running from the main tanks up to the fuel pump, and from the pump up to the BOTTOM of the header tank. I hate this because if this line comes loose, or if there's a fire, I can't shut the fuel off and the entire contents of the header tank can empty into the engine compartment with no way to turn it off. I believe the header tank is slowly draining backwards through the pump into the mains, when the plane is parked. Since the only path is through the pump, I wanted to be sure that this wasn't a sign of impending pump failure. If this pump outlet line terminated at the TOP of the header tank, it would be a lot safer IMHO. It seems to me that the only line terminated at the bottom of the header should be the outlet line, but that's not the way it seems to be. ----------------------------------- Steve Dold ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) Say NO to useless over-quoting -----------------------------------
