Yo, Jeff.
  My `coupe has the quick drain on the gascolator, as well at the ones
in both wings.  The right wing drains fine, while the left one is kinda
funky.  You gotta hold it just right to get a fast drain.  The gasco
one drains slow without the valve from the header to it turned on.
  I had the glass "bowl" when I bought it.  Mech. broke it the last
annual, so I now have the metal one.  Guess the glass is an old Ford
tractor part (you did not here that from me).
  I concur with you - glass and quick drain on gascolator is best way
to go.  With a check EVERY preflight.
