While we are on the topic of fuel systems, I have a question.

We received our 415-C back from it's annual inspection. The mechanic told
me
that in the future he would like to see me add quick drain valves to my
wing
tanks. Currently there is a solid plug that is saftey wired in the drain
hole. I can find these quick drain Curtis valves from Univair, no problem.
He also said I should replace the original glass bowl gasculator with a
metal bowl gasculator that has the quick drain feature. I talked to the
nice
people at Univair and found out that they do not sell a "approved" quick
drain gasculator for the Ercoupe. They had no idea if their was any stc
for
this. Have any of you fellow coupers installed a quick drain gasculator?
It
makes good sense from a safety stand point to be able to check fuel
samples
as part of each pre-flight!
