Ron, You are missing the point by a country mile. AN ERCOUPE IS A CERTIFIED AIRCRAFT, NOT A HOMEBUILT\EXPERIMENTAL. It therefore has to use certified parts to be LEGALLY airworthy. As such, a certified A&P mechanic has to sign it off every year - not just some intelligent person with caution and understanding!
The issue never was that homebuilt parts are inferior.... THEY JUST CAN BE VERY ILLEGAL ON A CERTIFIED AIRPLANE. End of story. Opinions have no place in this legal matter. Any and all arguments over this are a waste of time. It's like defending running red lights and stop signs because it saves gas. Breaking the law is breaking the law. It has NOTHING to do with what I think or your opinion either! THE FAA IS THE ENFORCER OF REGULATIONS. Violate the regs at your own risk\peril. Just my opinion. Ron
