You came to the right spot, John.
With many more opinions yet to come in. First off, mine does not have
rudder pedels. I have heard from some one who has them that they do not
buy you much. The Ercoupe was designed with them as an option, and you
can fly (I am told) quite well without them.
Metal wings are heavier, but do not have to be recovered. But the
recovering gives you a VERY GOOD LOOK at the internal structure. At
least until the later (Stits, et al.) methods came along. The first AD
you can (easily) check on is the inspection plates in the bottom of the
wing. Yes, both cloth and metalized wings have to have `em. Look for 16
inspection plates (4 inch round gizmos) in the bottom of each wing.
Is the plane in annual? That's the bit about being inspected every
12 months. My last one was November, which means I can fly legally
until the END of November this year.
