I can't resist my own two cents worth on the web site debate. Dave's site was one of the motivations for my search for a coupe. In fact, I got the name and number of a couper in Tulsa who generously showed me his plane and gave me a ride--my first in a coupe. Then he called me later that day when his coupe caper came in, and I ended up buying a coupe listed in the newsletter. I think I thanked Dave, but I never did send any info to him.
I was just a new couper and felt unworthy of promoting myself or plane until I could at least land it without a death grip on the yoke. (I still don't have a decent picture of my plane yet, but I should have taken one and sent it to him.) Sorry bout that Dave. I don't think it matters which pages have what, whether it is Ron's or Dave's, but Dave does have a great start. I think the reluctance in using it has been twofold; because it has been viewed as a private site, people have not wanted to take advantage of Dave; and because of the lack of group involvement, there has been no momentum for individuals to promote themselves or coupes in any signifcant manner. I think that is changing because of this list. Clearly we have all had more involvement with other coupers these past several months, and with several voicing an interest in supporting a web site, it could happen. However, there are 50-100 members of this group, and only a few of us contribute on a regular basis. I suspect some are uncomfortable about chiming in, and others just prefer to view, but it would be better if more would participate--even at the risk of repeating info. I don't think the lack of response to Dave's regular and generous offer to provide space is a reflection of a lack of interest. It is just a lack of motivation--which perhaps will be improved upon by our group interaction. I would like to see Dave and Ron work together to fashion an official site of this unofficial group of computer coupers. I'm as lazy as every one else, and I have minimal computer skills, but I would agree to contribute a picture, info, and one written narrative per year regarding my coupe experiences. I will also make several suggestion per year that will be rejected by the editor(s), and that's ok too. Thats my 2 cents worth on that! Ken Doyle Springfield, Mo Alon N5477E
