Howey and Welcome to the Ercoupers Mailing List. I try to fly the pattern at 80 MPH indicated. My `46 415-C w/C-85 seems able to bleed the speed down to 70 by the threshhold, but that is highly dependent on the pilot! Do try slower speeds at touch down, but follow the good advise to take a couple of miles off at a time. My best ones are 65 to 70 indicated. Do avoid "that sinking feeling" that starts below that!
I have found it a best practice to be WELL SET UP on the down wind. If I am consistant at 80 abeam the numbers, carb heat on and ready, I can't buy a bad landing. That means right altitude, right distance from the approach end of the runway. When one slops through the pattern, one can't just correct for it on final in the `coupe. With my Cessna 150, I had flaps (40 degrees!), slip, etc. Hope that this helps, and again, welcome aboard. Percy ([EMAIL PROTECTED])
