I was talking to someone who claims that covers aren't needed on a coupe, as with wind the windows will be damaged more from wind and the covers flapping around then protected from the rain.

He recommended putting sun shields on the INSIDE, to protect from the sun.

What do you guys think? Any and all opinions...

I do have a canopy cover that I ordered from "Bruces Custom Covers" in California. They advertise in the Ercoupe Owners Club publication: "Coupe Capers". I have my Coupe tied down outside and we have very high winds here in the Salt Lake Valley but the cover fits well and does not ever flap.

My 1946 Ercoupe has sliding left and right windows that come together over head. They do not and can not seal well enough to keep heavy blowing rain from dripping inside on the floor and seat cushions. Therefore I strongly recommend using a good canopy. There are cheaper ones (mine cost about $205, including shipping), but it is well made and comes with your trim color and adjustable "under belly" straps. They will also imprint your N number at an additional charge, if you want. I don't have a sunshade so I can't comment on them.
