Many thanks to all for the excellent suggestions for fixing my engine roughness problem. I think we've solved the puzzle. We disassembled the Stromberg carb. again on Saturday, and discovered a tiny hairline crack in the main discharge nozzle, just above the threaded area. We'd simply missed the crack on the first look-see. Long story short: my A&P has ordered a new nozzle, so I hope to have '88H back in the air come this weekend!
