If it is a twist in the wing, then this is not as unusual as some people
might have you believe. In fact, it has been discussed on the list that
on
a lot of coupes you can see that it actually looks that way (so don't
start
it with me again JC and GB.) If all checks out in the structure, you may
just need to put the rigging to back how it was before they messed with
it.
Check the aileron to see if anybody has been bending on it, as that is
allowed but it might be working against you in this case. I would take up
the baggage compartment and check the rear spar with a mirror just to be
safe, especially if the whole wing is off in incidence. Also look on the
top and bottom on the outside of the center section for indentations in
the
skin where it has moved up or down. There are brackets riveted to the
fuselage with bolts through the spar which should be checked, and don't
forget to make sure they have riveted the reinforcement onto the spar, it
will be sandwiched on there in accordance with the AD. AD's have a funny
way of being complied with in writing only. Take off the panels
underneath
the wings and have a look at the spars and particularly the joint a few
feet
in from the tip. If everything is solid then it should be okay to trim it
to fly straight. It is really not so unusual on these old planes. There
are some people here who are quick to jump on the "you're gonna die" or
"you
ought to call a lawyer over that 54 year old plane" thing. Don't let
them
faze you. Glen Ward
