Or it may be worn out.  Too much vacuum (unlikely) will not make it

An 8" venturi can drive 2 gyros, and will hit 4" (on both, = 8 total) at 
about 120 mph.

Just to clarify,  continuous load does not include landing light or
starter.  
35 amps should be plenty.
