During turbulence, try to loosen your grip on the yoke so you can thumb the push button. Having the opposing thumb is what allows us to grip so firmly. I have my hand on the throttle almost all the time when I am not using it for other things and especially when the plane is bouncing around in case I need to reduce power to maneuvering speed. I have operated before with a switch near the throttle control (electric prop pitch change) and found it natural. Isn't it neat, opinions are like anus's, everyone has one.
