And Lynn drives a Bonanza. Alas, too many of them don't realize that an Ercoupe is closer to them than it is to a Cub. Of course the Bonanza and the Coupe feel so similar it is uncanny. They were designed with the same values as regards control feel. Light and crisp, for returning P51 pilots. When I was working with Bill Stevick and his friend John this weekend, there was an A36 waiting to take off at Sky Manor. Actually, we were waiting for him to take off, since he blocked the entry to the runway to do his run-up. He sat there like a dolt until he was ready to go. Then he announced 'taking the active' with another plane on base. And proceeded to sit with his thumb up his a** on the numbers while he got good and ready to go. Meanwhile, we're reminding him, 'Bonanza [N-number deleted to protect the guilty] YOU HAVE TRAFFIC ON BASE YOU MAY WANT TO GO!' Finally he did, when that traffic was well down final. Oblivious to traffic that was really ready to go. Oblivious to traffic in the pattern. Basically, oblivious. Such a waste of a fine airplane.
