Wayne, Early coupes had an air intake assy that would allow the filter to interfer with the carb heat. Service Bulletin # 19 addresses this issue.
The service bulletin tells how to install a Bolt in the housing to prevent interference from the filter and the throttle/carb heat flaps...and how to modify the carb heat flap, etc. Should have been done many years ago.... My coupe has a housing in which there is a step that the filter cannot pass, and a small clamp and screw out front, holding the filter element in place. Be happy to fax a copy of the bulletin if desired. It is worth the $10 or so to get a current copy of service bulletins & Memo, from Univair. Harry Francis 93530 Blacksburg, Va.
