Ed. Burkhead described your Dutch Roll as a Wallow.  I think that pretty much sums it up.  It's a characteristic of these beautiful birds, and tight or within specs control surfaces will help.  If holding a course bothers you too much, I would suggest a DG if you don't have one at this time. Any aircraft with a high degree of dihedral will have this characteristic.  Just go along for the ride, it makes the flight interesting.
