Dave, After polishing, preparation for painting a clear coating seems proper to me...to keep it shiny....without the 3 times /year polishing.
I wish my coupe was shiny, but I think once it's been painted with a primer and color, then it really is a difficult job to again aquire the slick surface to produce a shine. I think the original coupes were all alunimum clad --- to be shiny, and did not require all the polishing ????--only after the cadding is cleaned off (to make the surface suitable to hold paint), does the oxidation occur, and requires constant polishing. I guess that, finally the cladding does wear off, requiring polishing, too. Does one finally clean away all the metal ??? Fly Safe - Have Fun Be Pretty, Too! Harry Francis 93530 Blacksburg, Va.
