Tom,
You got lucky and you know it :-) I agree a blanket statement can never be accurate, but the vast majority will fit into the less desirable picture. Still pays to find another Couper first. I was lucky when I got back into flying after a 6 year layoff (I had been flying a Mooney 201 back then) I got a few min in a 150 then a quick checkout (half dozen takeoffs and landings) with a Couper who has a CFI, went to Charlotte NC and picked up 41C and flew her back to Dallas. Total time to get recurrent was less than 45 min. The Coupe made getting back into flying after 6 years easy. Transition to the Coupe is easy as long as you know the caveats and don't try to fly it based on all the old hanger stories you heard.
