Sounds like a nice aircraft. Last year the CFI that I hired to instruct
me
had never seen an Ercoupe. I informed him about the unique
characteristics
of the Coupe and I let him fly it for an hour or so as I rode along.
Don't
know if that was legal, but my insurance policy covered CFI as long as I
was
in the aircraft, if my memory serves me correct. The next day he gave me
my
first flight lesson, and what a great experience. My aircraft is pictured
on Dave's Ercoupe Page, Midwest Region.
I just switched my insurance from Avemco to HCC Aviation, Inc. in Dallas,
TX. for a $300 savings. Full coverage with $17,000 valuation and $500K
limit was $560 and for $1,000K was $605. Both have medical at $3K and
$6K(each person and each occurrence, respectively). Call Renee at Andrews
Aviation Ins. Services, Inc. 1-888-523-7868 in Griffin, GA.
I received the insurance info from Grover Barfield, Columbus, GA. last
April
6 via the coupers mailing list. THANKS GROVER!
Hope this helps.
Enjoy the Coupe Experience.

Subject: Looking at a 'coupe

>Howdy, all --
>
>Well, the search for my dream 'coupe continues. I've got what looks like
a
>pretty serious candidate, and would really like your comments.
>
>I don't have all the stats so far, but here's what I know:
>
>- 415C/D
>- Ceconite wings, swiss cheese AD done
>- An 0-200 with less than 300 hours since rebuild
>- Cleveland brakes
>- Everything on the panel I'd need and more; DG, VSI, glide slope, turn
>coordinator, radio with intercom, a nice mounted Garmin...
>- Ram horn yokes
>- Dual fork nose
>- The rudder has been rebuilt
>- Two-control
>- Original seats
>- Bubble windshield (not what I'd pick, but in good shape)
>- Green-tinted canopy (I'd prefer clear, but I figure that's pretty cheap
to
>change)
>- New tire on the nose
>- Rudder has been rebuilt
>- Paint job in good shape. Not a color scheme I'd pick, but it's
OK-white

>here. I'm going to have my A&P take a look a long look at it; I have Ed

>OK, now what do I have to do to learn to fly it? Do I need a CFI with

finally,

>come have a look at her. I'd be happy to feed you for the kindness, and
we

>Anyhow, as always, thanks a million for all your help.
