I didn't have "libfam.so" anywhere on my FC4 system - so doing a "yum install fam" I got the package "gamin." It's a few versions behind as the OS is a few years old, so I've found the Gamin project page, which is hosted on Gnome. http://www.gnome.org/~veillard/gamin/ I'll give it a go.
